What’s happening today my fellow brewer?!
Today’s grain to glass post if is my clone recipe of the Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild.
Originally brewed in the early 1900s by Mrs. Hughes at her brewpub, the Beacon Hotel in the West Midlands of England, the beer was revived by her grandson John in 1987. It is a rare example of the mild style still available today.
I really enjoyed this home brew.
As one review of it I found said… Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild is Complex, complex, complex—yet smooth and satisfying. There’s some roastiness and some chocolatyness rounding itself to a mellow toffee-like finish. The beer is a bit stronger than expected from a “mild,”.
Check it out and if you want to brew it up I have included a link to the recipe at the bottom of this post. Be sure to let me know how it turns out! Cheers
