Welcome to The MBE Lab, the experimental side of Make Beer Easy. 🧪🍻
This is where we test the weird stuff.
The strange beers.
The odd ingredients.
The Wacky Wednesday ideas.
The questionable batches that might be genius or might be complete disasters.
Back when I owned my brew pub, we used to do Wacky Wednesdays, where we brewed one keg of something crazy. Fruity Pebbles beer, Sour Patch Kids beer, and other nutty ideas people lined up to try.
Now we’re bringing that idea back with small-batch brewing.
One-gallon batches.
Low risk.
Big curiosity.
Honest taste tests.
Some experiments will work.
Some will go sideways.
Either way, we’re going to learn something and probably have a few laughs doing it.
The MBE Lab is not about perfection.
It’s about testing ideas.
The rules are simple:
- Keep it small-batch when the idea is risky.
- Learn something from every experiment.
- Don’t dump it until we know it’s truly bad.
- If it goes sideways, we make content out of it.
- If it works, we brew it again and make it better.
Got something strange you want me to brew, mix, ferment, or taste test?
Send it my way.
If it sounds ridiculous enough, it might end up in the Lab.
Cheers,
Big Robb

Present Lab Experiments
June 2, 2026 Lab Update
Right now, the first official MBE Lab project is the Prison Wine Experiment.
We have two 1-gallon batches cold crashing in the kegerator:
Prison Hooch
This is the rough-and-ready version. Cheap, sketchy, and probably a bad idea.
Prison Merlot
This is the slightly classier version. Maybe it tastes like wine. Maybe it tastes like bad decisions in a glass.
Both are cold crashing now, and we’ll be taste testing them soon.
Status: Cold crashing
Batch Size: Two 1-gallon batches
Category: Prison Wine / Weird Alcohol Experiment
Next Step: Taste test

Upcoming Lab Experiments
These are some of the experiments we’re looking at for future Lab updates.
Fruity Pebbles Beer
A cereal-inspired beer from the old Wacky Wednesday brew pub days.
Could be amazing.
Could be a crime against beer.
We’ll find out.
Sour Patch Kids Beer
A sour candy beer experiment that could either work or be absolutely disgusting.
Weird One-Gallon BIAB Beers
Small batch Brew In A Bag beers using odd ingredients or strange flavor ideas.
Would You Drink This?
Beer cocktails, strange drink combos, and questionable pub-style experiments.
More ideas will be added here as we come up with them.
