Summer Beer recipes are what would actually be considered beer cocktails versus actual beer recipes. If you are looking to brew an actual summer beer then we recommend our recipe for a light beer also commonly referred to as a lawn mower beer.
However, if you are looking for an easy-to-make refreshing beer cocktail that can be enjoyed in the hot summer heat, around your pool, at the beach, or when simply entertaining some friends then the following recipe which is very similar to a bulldog (margarita beer mix) may be exactly what you are looking for.
What is a Summer Beer?
A summer beer in this context is basically a vodka punch with beer as an added ingredient. This particular recipe includes your favorite light beer (typically a lager), vodka, club soda, and either frozen lemonade or lime juice, along with lemon or lime slices.
It’s a straightforward recipe that you can put together in minutes. You can make single servings or pitchers of it depending on how many people you are entertaining. It can be made as light or as strong as you like, but beware its light and refreshing taste can be deceiving as it goes down smooth and easy but can pack a punch.

Variations to this Summer Beer Recipe
There are many variations that you can make to this recipe. The first variation would be to adjust its alcohol content, adjust according to desired strength by reducing either the amount of beer, vodka, or both.
The second variation is to its flavor. There are many things you can do to adjust its taste. If you are a fan of wheat beers such as Blue Moon which is a Belgian wheat beer and is typically served with a slice of orange, try substituting the lemonade for frozen orange juice concentrate and use 4 bottles of Blue Moon, garnish with a slice of orange. If you are a fan of radlers which are simply beer with grapefruit juice, try substituting with a can of frozen grapefruit juice.
Substituting any frozen juice from concentrate is an option, we referenced the bulldog cocktail earlier, to try it simply use a margarita frozen mix instead of the lemonade. Pink lemonade is also an option. Tequila or rum can be used instead of vodka as well. Some people will also add a cup or two of sprite or ginger ale. Feel free to mix and match and come up with your own favorite variation of this summer beer recipe.
